OSHE members are encouraged to share advocacy issues affecting healthcare engineering, facilities, operations, design and construction, and the broader healthcare environment in Oregon.
Advocacy issues may include, but are not limited to:
- Architect/owner “gray areas” where roles, responsibilities, or expectations are unclear
- Conflicting interpretations among Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) or inconsistencies between regulatory agencies
- Questions or concerns regarding Oregon Health Authority (OHA) roles, responsibilities, or requirements
- Code compliance or regulatory requirements that are unclear, inconsistent, or difficult to interpret
- Licensing or scope-of-work issues affecting healthcare facilities and facility operations
- Regulatory or industry issues creating challenges for healthcare owners, architects, engineers, contractors, facility professionals, or other industry partners
OSHE Advocacy Liaison, Shamindra Singh, will review submissions to determine how OSHE may assist. When appropriate, issues may also be elevated to ASHE Advocacy for broader review, guidance, or consideration.
To submit an advocacy issue or concern, please email Advocacy@OSHE.us.
When submitting an issue, please include as much relevant background and supporting information as possible, including applicable regulations, correspondence, examples, or other documentation that may assist with the review.
Questions are welcome. If you are unsure whether a concern falls within OSHE’s advocacy scope, or if you would like to discuss an issue before submitting it, please reach out to Advocacy@OSHE.us. We encourage members to seek clarification and share concerns so that OSHE can better support the healthcare facilities community throughout Oregon.
